The city that is Gurugram
Gurgaon or Gurugram is part of the Indian state of Haryana and the leading industrial and financial hub of India. Gurgaon is also the city with the third highest per-capita income in the nation. It was the plant set by the automobile giant Maruti Suzuki India limited in 1970 that triggered the industrial growth in the region. Offices of a total of 250 out of 500, fortune 500 companies is located in Gurgaon.
A brief history of the city
Gurgaon or Gurugram according to Sanskrit epic Mahabharata represents the village of the guru (teacher) of Pandavas, guru Dronacharya. Gurgaon was a stronghold of Hindu kings and was ruled by Rajput and Jadaun dynasties. Their rule came to an end after the invasion of Feroz Shah Tughlaq. During the time of Akbar the great, the area together with Delhi and Agra came under Mughal Empire. At the time of the decline of the Mughal Empire the region was won over by British in 1803 by signing the treaty of Sur Ji Anjangaon. After the first war of Independence in 1857, the governance of Gurgaon was transferred to northwestern provinces of the greater Punjab region. In 1947, Gurgaon became the integral state of the Indian state of Punjab.
After 19 years of Independence in 1996, Gurgaon became the part of the new state of Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, on 12 April 2016, renamed the Gurgaon to Gurugram.

The area covered by Gurgaon is 738.8 square kilometers and is situated about 217 meters above the sea level. It is situated southwest of New Delhi. The distance between Delhi and Gurgaon is 32 kilometers.
Climate of the city
Gurgaon climate is more or less the same as Delhi. Gurgaon has summers from April to August, rains in July to September. Winters starts from November and lasts till January and spring season is from February to March. Maximum temperatures in Gurgaon reach 45 degree Celsius in summers.

Gurgaon is also called the millennium city because of high growth and presence of major multinational corporations.
